The outdoor areas around your property are ultimately an extension of your home. People are always looking for ways to spend more time outside, enjoying their Memphis properties more fully.
That’s why outdoor living areas have become more popular than ever.
However, when these spaces are left in the dark, it can be nearly impossible to enjoy them at night. It’s common for families to consider outdoor lighting when they decide to add an outdoor living area.
That was certainly the case for this Collierville, TN family.
The addition of a new backyard pool and some beautiful landscaping prompted the family to incorporate outdoor lighting and maximize the use of their gorgeous space at night. Since adding lighting, the family is now spending more time outside than ever before.
One of the most exciting aspects of this particular lighting project is that we zoned the backyard with four different lighting schemes that can be controlled from the homeowners’ phones. At just a push of a button, the homeowners can have the lighting scheme come on or change.
There’s a mode for whatever the homeowners have going on spanning from the “everyday” lighting arrangement to the entertainment set-up when they have guests coming over.
This family does entertain frequently and they had different ways that they envisioned themselves using their lighting and their property. This makes the lighting highly customized and personal for the homeowners.
It’s also not a stagnant design that they’re stuck with no matter how they’re using their yard. They can use each zone differently.
Lighting can go incredibly far in setting a mood and contributing to the entertainment factor.
Zoning landscape lights is an excellent way to give you optimal control over exactly how you want your lights to work for you. It will give you maximum aesthetic appeal and functionality.
But it’s not something that is simple for the average landscape lighting company to do.
Whenever you are zoning lights, you have to take the wire runs into account. This takes quite a bit of forethought, planning, and skill to ensure it is all completed correctly and that all the lights have the right voltage.
Zoning lighting does make a landscape lighting project more complicated but if you’re working with an expert who knows what they’re doing, it’s well worth the effort.
The key, like any other lighting technique, is that it’s done right.
In addition to the zoned lighting, this project also involved a lot of strategically placed lights that helped improve the look and use of this property.
This included lighting up the back patio and the outdoor fire feature.
We also core-drilled lights at the base of the columns. Some soft lighting on the columns created a cool effect in that space.
When the family entertains guests come to the backyard on a walkway that takes them around back. We also lit this walkway so that it would be safe and easy for people to make their way to the backyard safely and effectively.
While the backyard is the showstopper of this lighting project, we also incorporated some front-of-the-house lighting to boost curb appeal and lit up the side of the yard as people would use that space to make their way around back.
This project is a great example of homeowners who were looking to get more value and enjoyment out of their property.
Adding an outdoor living space and a pool made this yard the backyard paradise the family desired. But the addition of the outdoor lighting helped them to use the space in the evening hours, too.
We love working with homeowners who are excited about improving their properties. If you’re looking to spend more time outside making unforgettable memories, we’re here to help.
Just like with this project, we believe that the right lighting can make a huge difference in how much time you’ll spend (and enjoy) outdoors.
