FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a difference in the lighting fixtures you install versus what I can buy at Home Depot or Lowes?

There is a HUGE difference! For example, the quality of the light fixture, the light source (halogen vs LED), the lighting effect, life of the system, life of the warranty and the look of the fixture in daylight. We design and install lighting systems with the highest grade fixtures and LEDs available on the market. Our LEDs will last over 10 years, instead of less than a year (which is how long most box store sets last, if you’re lucky).

How much does a professionally designed and installed LED system cost?

An average cost for the industry is 2-4% of the home’s value. This isn’t a perfect gauge of the cost because it’s relative to the amount of lighting fixtures necessary to provide the effect the client is looking for.

Will low voltage outdoor lighting increase the value of my home and property?

According to realestate.com, outdoor lighting can raise your property value by 12%!

Is low voltage outdoor lighting the solution to my property feeling secure at night?

A good outdoor lighting system is proven to increase home security by discouraging criminal behavior. If you can see your property at night, you will feel far more secure than if you can’t.

How do the lighting controls work?

The transformer (control panel) powers the system and will be set to a timer. The customer specifies when the lights come on and off, and we take care of the rest. We also offer advanced controls that can be operated from your smartphone.

Why do we use LEDs?

LED light bulbs are increasing in popularity for good reason—the bulb last longer, are more durable and are more energy efficient than other bulbs available. On average, LED bulbs use at least 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and can last 25 times longer. So we prefer LEDs because they are the future of light technology and they provide the greatest quality for our clients.

Are our outdoor lighting systems efficient?

Efficiency is an important concern. Since we use high-end LED lighting, our outdoor lighting systems are more efficient than ever before. LED bulbs consume 75% less energy than your traditional incandescent bulbs, which means your entire lighting system can consume much less. You'll be surprised by how much energy the system DOESN'T consume.

Here's a great cost/use table supplied by thesimpledollar.com:

That is a general comparison of light bulbs, but the point is made. LED bulbs are incredibly efficient and last much longer than any alternative bulb.

What about LED bulb color?

Most of us are accustomed to the warm hue of an incandescent bulb and thus prefer it versus bright white or daylight white. As LED lights have come to market, we've experienced them mostly in the bright white form, so many people think of LEDs as intense, bright white lights. The good news is that LED lights come in all colors. So we can get LED lights that provide the same warmth as traditional bulbs. No need to worry about color and hue because we can get exactly what you prefer.
